by filling my ears with cotton
by sleeping
until dusk left

was purple again when i closed my eyes
music started playing
a tune so silent yet so human all the same
i wanted to go
where the fire goes
and the trees dance

where the people went to clap their hands
in spring, in autumn, in winter but not summer
it tapped on my door, the monstrous thing
i could hear it, but made sure i wouldn’t

started singing
started swaying
